OB Israel
Charmaine Hedding joined the Operation Blessing team as the National Director of Israel in January 2009.
Born and educated in South Africa, Charmaine lived in Jerusalem in the 1980s and again since 2004.
In her previous work with different faith-based and government groups she has focused on a number of women’s issues including domestic violence, trafficking, incest, female mutilation, and honor killings.
In her role with OB Israel, Charmaine oversees a number of programs including: assisting elderly Holocaust survivors living below the poverty line; providing humanitarian and legal assistance for women and children victims of trafficking; aiding new immigrants and migrant workers; providing job skills and educational training for asylum seekers, including assisted voluntary repatriation of South Sudanese families; and coordinating faith-based groups in Israel to assist in disaster relief initiatives both in-country and abroad.
In the West Bank and Palestinian territories, Charmaine and the OB Israel team are offering job skills training for disabled adults, including support for physically disabled children; holding general medical, optical and dental outreaches; and distributing food and other humanitarian assistance for impoverished families. |
