Volunteers help unload 1,000 bottles of water that were distributed to area residents.

TECUCI, Romania – Torrential rains and strong winds caused massive flooding in the southern regions of Romania last month. The area was still trying to recover from last year’s floods when it was hit with more rain.
Floodwaters blocked roads, shut down electricity and forced more than 4,000 people from their homes. Flooding was also responsible for killing farm animals and pushing dams to their maximum limit.
OBI-supported East Lifewater partnered with several organizations from Timisoara to supply relief materials to flood victims.
Using an Operation Blessing water well, volunteers filled more than 1,000 bottles of clean water and distributed to residents in the hard hit town of Tecuci. Together, OBI and partners supplied more than five tons of clean water for public use.

OBI also donated clothes, shoes, rice and toys to families and has been running a soup kitchen to help other displaced people.
In addition to these disaster relief efforts, ongoing OBI projects include a back-to-school program that provides essential school supplies to families; soup kitchens; clothing and food distributions; water wells; and job skills training to orphans.
