| Popular Filipino singer Gary Valenciano joined OBI to help distribute relief supplies to victims in Riverside Village and Montelibano Compound. |
According to OB Philippines country director Dr. Kim Pascual, Typhoon Ondoy brought on Hurricane Katrina-like floods that submerged more than 80 percent of the capital Manila.
"The whole region has been under a state of calamity,” she said.
Operation Blessing has concentrated their relief efforts in some of the hardest-hit areas of Manila, Pasig, Marikina, Rizal and Taguig.
In Pasig, OBI teamed up with popular singer Gary Valenciano, who personally distributed relief supplies to victims in Riverside Village and Montelibano Compound.
“When you see the people, even from around the world, all contributing in the middle of their work, then you have to give up your time and do what you can do in order to be here,” Valenciano said.
