| Residents scramble to receive relief. OBI partners delivered more than 3,000 emergency meals to typhoon victims. |
QUANG NAM, Vietnam - As the relief boat approached the shoreline, desperate residents scrambled frantically to get in position—with arms outstretched and bare feet sinking deeper into the muddy banks.
“The people almost fought at the bank to get the food. So at times, it was intense,” said Tony, an OB partner assisting with relief efforts.
An estimated 3 million people in Vietnam have been impacted by the same devastating Typhoon Ondoy that first struck the Philippines, flooding more than 80 percent of the capital Manila as well as surrounding areas.

Relief teams have delivered more than 3,000 emergency meals to Vietnamese families who are living in flooded areas accessible only by boat.
Workers are also preparing to purchase large quantities of tin in order to repair some of the hundreds of homes damaged by the storms.
In the Philippines, OBI teams are still providing emergency relief to victims, having helped more than 138,000 residents to date.
