VERACRUZ, Mexico – When Hurricane Karl made landfall in Mexico late September, it left a path of destruction in its wake.
More than half a million residents were impacted by the storm, thousands sought refuge in shelters after their homes were flooded, and a state of emergency was declared in 62 municipalities in Veracruz.
“This is truly one of the worse disasters I have seen here in Mexico,” said Scott Hill, OBI’s country director for Mexico.

| Operation Blessing Mexico teams distributed three tons of food and clothing, more than 2,000 anti-parasite pills and are providing clean water to about 15,000 flood victims. |
Operation Blessing teams have been responding to families in hard-hit areas, mobilizing nearly 100 volunteers to help distribute aid and relief.
Teams installed two large water purification units that are providing clean drinking water to about 15,000 people and more than three tons of food and clothing have been distributed as well as 2,000 anti-parasite pills.
Volunteers have also begun to clean up homes and fumigate flooded communities to help prevent the spread of waterborne diseases.
