| After the mudslides in Costa Rica, this is what was left of the bunk beds that Jessenia’s youngest children slept on. |
SAN JOSE, Costa Rica – When Hurricane Tomas hit Costa Rica, it left a path a destruction right through the impoverished areas of the capital city, San Jose.
Jessenia’s family was one of several families from the community of Calle Lajas that lost nearly everything they owned to a giant mudslide triggered by the hurricane. Furniture, food, and clothing were all destroyed by the debris.
Jessenia and her husband found sturdy shelter for their family of teenage twins and two grade-school children, but with no bed to offer their children, they were still without a place to rest.

| Thanks to Operation Blessing, Jessinia’s family and others affected by the disaster now have new beds to sleep on and supplies to help them through their rebuilding efforts. |
Operation Blessing came to her community to help affected families and gave Jessenia a brand new bunk bed to replace one that had been shared by the younger children. Along with the new bed and mattresses, the family also received blankets to keep them warm, school supplies, and groceries.
Operation Blessing also provided other families in Calle Lajas with needed items like beds, mattresses, stoves, and relief supplies.
“Thank you God and Operation Blessing for the help you’ve given me,” said Yorleny, a single mother of two whose family also lost all their belongings. “Now I will be able to sleep in my new bed.”
