Ironically, their community’s name means “relief,” but there was none to be found. Their town became cut off from aid when the main road flooded, blocking vehicles from entering or exiting.
Maria, who is deaf, provides for her children by washing clothes in the community, but since the floods began, she hasn’t been able to find work and she was running out of food for her little girls.
Nearby, Roman and his wife were also struggling to feed their three-year-old son. Roman had worked as a day laborer for a nearby farm, but the rains destroyed the crops and he suddenly found himself without an income.

Then Operation Blessing disaster teams arrived in the community, bringing what the villagers needed most—relief. OB Guatemala teams delivered food supplies, medicine, hygiene products and even clean-up supplies to Maria, Roman and other families in need.
Operation Blessing teams are also responding to severe floods in El Salvador and Honduras by distributing emergency food and other aid to hundreds of victims in shelters and affected areas.
