Dozens of parents like Sarah are finding food and care at Joseph's Storehouse, one of many OBI-supported community organizations across the U.S.

LEBANON, Tenn. – Sarah joined the line at 9 p.m. Friday night. In 12 hours, Joseph’s Storehouse would open its doors for a food distribution and she was determined to bring something home to her two young children.

For Sarah, the wait was a small sacrifice to pay.

“Last week, the only thing I had to feed my family was peanut butter and jelly and Ramen noodles. We haven’t had meat in the house for over a month because it’s too expensive,” she said, fighting back tears.

Sarah and her husband had been doing alright since they married five years ago, but recently her husband was injured while working. The couple has yet to receive workman’s compensation, and the current lack of income is taking its toll.

They just took the last of their savings to pay rent and there simply isn’t anything left for food and other basic necessities.

“If it wasn’t for Joseph’s Storehouse, I wouldn’t be able to take food home to my kids today,” she said through tears. “In the past, they haven’t always had everything they wanted, but they have always had what they needed.”

To help meet those needs, Sarah relies on Joseph’s Storehouse, one of more than 5,000 community organizations across the U.S. that receive truckloads of food and product from Operation Blessing. On average, OBI’s warehouses distribute over 1 million pounds of food and supplies each month to partners across the nation.

“The people that donate and help this cause—unless they have been in this situation before—will never truly understand how much of an impact they have in the lives of people like me,” Sarah said.

“I can’t even begin to express the gratefulness,” she continued. “Words aren’t enough, there are no words.”
