OBI’s bags of canned goods and fresh produce are a huge blessing to families in need this holiday season.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Operation Blessing and the NFL are gearing up for another great season of giving.

OBI’s Hunger Strike Force fights hunger in America every day, and this fall, the Washington Redskins and the Jacksonville Jaguars are joining the fight once more—and just in time for Thanksgiving.

Both teams are helping OBI distribute food to families in need in their respective cities.

At the food distributions, families will receive non-perishable canned and boxed foods as well as nutritious vegetables and produce.

In Washington, the Redskins are even providing a whole turkey for each family to bring home for that special meal. There, at least 3,500 families are expected to attend the event and another 1,500 children will receive a bag full of goodies and toys.

Last year, NFL linebacker Chris Wilson helps distribute food to families.

In Jacksonville, enough food has been collected to distribute to at least 2,500 adults to take home to their families. Another 1,500 children will also receive a special gift.

“The community is part of us,” said Bryan Barker, a punter with the Jaguars from 2000-2005, “so we’re extremely fortunate to have an opportunity to come out and participate in an event like this.”

As they hand out bags of food, the football players will also be on hand to sign autographs, talk with fans, and take pictures.

OBI and the NFL have more than 10 years of teamwork under their belts—having distributed to date more than 800,000 pounds of food to help more than 25,000 families in need.
