NORTH CAROLINA – The first time Vicky came to Victory Children’s Ministry, it was to support a friend who had heard about the program. Little did she know how much the program would come to help her own family too.

Feed a hungry child today

Vicky is a mother of four, including 11-year-old twins, a 7-year-old and a 2-year-old, but she suffers from a variety of health conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia.

The pain prevents her from being able to work, so making ends meet as a single mom gets hard. And many everyday tasks are difficult to complete—even making dinner can be a painful chore.

But Vicky found relief at the Operation Blessing-supported food pantry, where her family receives a hot meal every week.

“The program gives me one night off a week,” Vicky said. “It lets me sit down for a little while.”

Vicky is also able to go “shopping” through their pantry for groceries to bring home. There she can find the snacks her children love and items to send in their school lunches, helping her stretch the food they have at home.

“It helps with sending three kids to school,” she said. “It’s a big help.”

While she collects the groceries, the ministry sets up games for the kids. “They play and have a good time; they love playing the games and they get candy—they love that,” she said.

Victory Children’s Ministry is really all about the children, said Pastor Lee who runs the program. Between their weekly meal, food pantry, and the hot food they deliver to underprivileged communities, Pastor Lee estimates they serve around 4,000 children every week.

“They’re not dressed in the finest clothes, and some of them don’t even have shoes,” he explained about the children they serve. “They are the ‘least of these.’”

Pastor Lee thanked Operation Blessing for helping make their efforts possible. “Many times we have been down to absolutely nothing, no food, and Operation Blessing calls.” Thankfully, he said, they have never had to turn a child away.
