| A physician examines little Nehemiah at a free medical clinic in the Janakpuri refugee camp in India. |
NEW DELHI, India – It wasn’t the first time Hlawin had known fear in her life.
The young mother had once fled Burma seeking safety from the Burmese army that threatened harm against her community because they were of an ethnic minority.
But this was a different kind of fear—this time she feared for the wellbeing of her child. One-year-old Nehemiah was sick.
Hlawin’s husband, Tanguang, worked hard at a factory near the Janakpuri refugee camp in India that they now called home. But his income was barely enough to provide for the daily needs of their five children. Hlawin knew there was nothing extra to pay for a doctor to examine her little boy.
 |
| Now with medicine for her son, Hlawin returns home with renewed hope. |
So she waited in anticipation for the day that Operation Blessing would hold the monthly free medical clinic in the camp.
On the morning of the clinic, Hlawin rushed Nehemiah to be seen by Operation Blessing’s physicians. Little Nehemiah was carefully examined and given free medicine to treat his illness. Hlawin gratefully took the medicine and her little boy back home with renewed hope for his recovery.
A Burmese refugee pastor at the camp shared his gratitude for the services offered by OBI saying, “We are not alone in India as we now have a true friend called OBI; thank you for all the love you showered on us!”
