| Siengmy and Siengsy have newfound independence and mobility because of the wheelchairs provided by Operation Blessing and Free Wheelchair Mission. |
LAOS – Siengmy and Siengsy’s parents had no idea the future that awaited their sons when they were born.
In all respects, both appeared to be healthy babies, growing and learning like other children. But before long, it became apparent that Siengmy and Siengsy weren’t just like other children in their village.
Both boys suffered from a genetic disorder that began to slowly take away their mobility. Eventually, they lost their ability to walk altogether, and with no means to help them get around, they could no longer attend school or do activities around the house.
Then Operation Blessing and Free Wheelchair Mission came to their community in Laos, offering double blessings to both boys: a pair of brand new wheelchairs.

Now, with renewed mobility, Siengmy and Siengsy are back in school and learning again.
Teams even sponsored a special tour for the brothers and other disabled wheelchair recipients to visit Vientiane, the capital of Laos. For many, it was the first time they had ever been able to leave their villages.
The wheelchairs distributed by OBI and FWM are inexpensively manufactured from premade parts like plastic lawn chairs, mountain bike tires, and foam seat cushions. The result is an affordable and easily distributed wheelchair—one that costs just $70 each and changes the lives of disabled men, women and children around the world.
“We never dreamt that this would happen to us, to receive this kindness,” the brothers told OBI staff. “We are deeply grateful.”
