| Unable to find a job as a shoemaker due to his disability, Omololu contacted Operation Blessing for help. |
NIGERIA – At only 27-years-old, Omololu felt his life was over.
Born with a disability in both legs that causes severe pain when he walks, Omololu said his life was a daily struggle against depression.
"I had lost all hope of ever living a normal life and being able to sustain myself," he said.
One day while watching a television show, Omololu heard about Operation Blessing and decided to write to OBI and explain his predicament.
"He decided to take a step of faith," said Okey Onwudiwe, an OBI representative in Nigeria.
After reading his letter, OBI staff members set up a meeting with Omololu and discovered he had once been trained as a shoemaker.
 |
| "Operation Blessing has given me life again," Omololu said, speaking of the shoe-shop OBI set up for the 27-year-old. "I am somebody again." |
Unfortunately, his disability had prevented him from finding employment.
OBI offered to help Omololu by setting up a shoe shop for him and providing all the necessary tools and supplies to help get his business off the ground.
So far, the business is going well.
"Omololu's future has been transformed," said Onwudiwe. "It is bright and full of promise."
"Operation Blessing has given me life again," Omololu said. "I am somebody again."
