| Once struggling to find enough work to support her family, Lillian now regularly sells produce in her community. |
GUATEMALA – Every day, Lillian wakes up with one task in mind: to fight for her children’s survival in every way she can.
After her husband abandoned their family, she began raising their seven children on her own, while trying to earn enough money to provide for them. Every day she would go in search of work she could do—mostly laundry for her neighbors.
Some days she would find work and be able to bring home beans and rice for her children to eat. Other days, there was no work, and the family went hungry. The children began to suffer from chronic malnutrition and Lillian was desperate to find a solution.

| Because of the microenterprise project sponsored by OBI, Lillian’s children no longer suffer from chronic malnutrition. |
When Operation Blessing heard about her situation, teams helped her start her own microenterprise business selling fresh fruit and vegetables from her home.
Lillian now sells produce to the whole community and brings in enough income that her children are able to eat three times every day. Her small business is also preparing a better future for her children.
“I thank God and Operation Blessing for the opportunity to provide a better life for my children,” said Lillian.
