VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. –For years, Beverly Hill has been pouring herself into others.

On top of raising her own two children, Beverly has fostered more than 35 children in her home. She and her husband Fred Burdette officially adopted six of the girls, ages ranging from nine to 18.

With a heart for the homeless, Beverly has also bestowed on her children the legacy of her generosity. The family often helps others in the community who are in need of clothes and food.

"God told me to feed people just as he feeds me," Beverly told the Daily Press. "I knew that I had to go out and help others and feed them just as God feeds me and my family every day."

Beverly’s heart is overflowing with love, but her home was overflowing with people.

Until recently, the family of eight had to share a single bathroom. On top of the cramped quarters, their house suffered from a variety of problems like faulty wiring, a sagging ceiling, and a crumbling floor.

But recently, the family received the surprise of a lifetime. Ty Pennington and the cast of ABC’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” announced that the Hill-Burdette family had been chosen to receive an extreme home makeover.

The announcement began an intense week of construction for “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” and local partner Trademark Construction.

With the construction happening in Virginia Beach, home of OBI’s headquarters, Operation Blessing called Trademark Construction to ask if they needed anything.

Sure enough, there was an urgent need for lumber, $20,000 worth. So Operation Blessing jumped on board, providing not only lumber, but volunteers and skilled laborers as well.

“It has been a great honor for Operation Blessing to be a part of this project and bless such a special family,” said Jody Herrington, OBI’s director of domestic disaster relief.

After a full week of construction, ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition reveals the completed home for the Hill-Burdette family of Virginia Beach.

When the Hill-Burdette family arrived back in Hampton Roads, the crowd chanted the famous line, “Move that bus!” and their brand new home was revealed.

“The moment was truly magical!” Herrington said.

Fred Burdette told WVEC news that it is now their turn to “pay it forward” into the community once more.
