| Operation Blessing provided Laura with business training and the supplies and equipment she needed to grow her chocolate business. |
MEXICO – At 57 years old, it’s not easy having to start a new career—especially when you’ve been working for the same company for 43 years.
But Laura had no other choice. She lost her job when her company went bankrupt, leaving her with no retirement and no means to support her granddaughter and disabled husband.
“I wondered, ‘What kind of job was I going to get?’ ” Laura said.
So she decided to start a small business making chocolate covered candies. But medical emergencies often ate up her profits.
Laura cares for her husband who had a stroke and is also helping to raise her granddaughter.
“I take care of my granddaughter while her mother goes to school to get a better job. I pay for everything I can,” Laura added.

| Now this hard-working grandma is able to mass produce her treats and provide for her family. |
When Operation Blessing heard about this hard-working grandma, we asked her how we could help. She told us that wanted to expand the business to be able sell more chocolates.
So we provided her with some basic training on how to manage her business. Then, we gave her the supplies and equipment needed to grow the business.
With some help from her daughter and encouragement from her granddaughter, Laura began to mass produce the chocolate treats. Almost overnight she was able to supply many of the stores nearby with even more products—and sales of the candy in stores continue to be good.
“Thank God for this great gift and thanks to Operation Blessing,” Laura said. “Now I have a growing business that is just starting to take off. Thank you!”
