In Haiti, OBI has already helped 20 impoverished families who live in a lakeside village learn how to farm fish and we have selected 40 more families who need our help. Each family is given a floating cage with 2,400 tilapia fingerlings (young fish) and shown how to raise them. In just 4 months the tilapia are fully grown and can be sold in markets. One batch of fish generates enough income to restock the cage with new fingerlings and provide a profit, giving families food to eat, helping them send their children to school and even afford health care. A gift of $1,000 will provide a family with everything they need to start farming, including fish, feed and training. Or, a gift of $100 will allow you to join 10 others in starting a fish farm for a family in countries like Haiti and Senegal.
