Operation Blessing offers opportunities for general and specialized medical personnel to volunteer in Haiti. Areas of need are:

WHERE WILL I VOLUNTEER?
Operation Blessing serves in and around Port-au-Prince, Haiti, at several different hospitals and clinics. Volunteers will be placed at facilities based on where the greatest need is at that time and according to medical specialties.
- 55% of the population lives below the international poverty line of $1.25 per day1
- Only 54% of women receive prenatal care, which is defined as at least four visits1
- Many of Haiti’s nursing students were killed in the 2010 earthquake when the building collapsed
- As of July 2011 there have been 419,511 cases of cholera reported2
- The average life expectancy in Haiti is 61 years1
- Maternal Mortality: 300 deaths per 1,000 live births3
- Haiti’s physician to patient ratio is 1:4,000 compared to the United States at approximately 3:1,0003
- In Haiti, there are 1.3 hospital beds per 1,000, whereas in the U.S. there are 3.1 hospital beds per 1,0003
- For every 1,000 live births, 87 die before the age of five1
