Zanmi Beni Children’s Home

In 2010, Operation Blessing joined hands with Zanmi Lasante (Partners in Health’s sister organization in Haiti) to open Zanmi Beni, a home for orphans and special needs children in Port-au-Prince. Prior to the earthquake, these children were languishing in poor conditions in a room at the General Hospital. When the earthquake struck, the hospital sustained damage and the children had no home or anyone to care for them. Operation Blessing purchased the property that is now Zanmi Beni (meaning “Blessed Friend” in Creole) and which is staffed and operated by Partners in Health. There the children receive round-the-clock care including nutritious meals, structured class time and activities, physical therapy sessions, and more. Operation Blessing is also constructing new a new 30-room dormitory for the children and has partnered with Tide Loads of Hope to install a new laundry facility with commercial-grade washers and driers.
