Excited Children Receive Pencil Case Kits

Our compassionate partners have been helping us send pencil case kits to hundreds of impoverished school children over the last two years! Boys and girls living in the United States and around the world have begun the new school year with a case filled with essential school items like pencils, crayons, glue and scissors. Even children from Philadelphia walked into the classroom knowing they were prepared just like all of the other kids.

“Ooooh, look at what I have,” exclaimed four-year-old Charity. She was opening up her brand new pencil case kit along with her older sister Emani and brother Tyrell. Our partner, Bethel Deliverance Church in Philadelphia had passed the kits out to every at-risk child that participated in their summer camp.

The children asked, “Are these for us? Can we keep them?”

Over the last few months Charity’s family began experiencing financial and health problems. Their father, Reuben, had to leave work when he was hospitalized for a heart condition and needed surgery. This forced their mother Lakeya to get a low paying job. She struggled to keep the bills paid and put food on the table while caring for her small children and visiting her husband at the hospital.

When Reuben finally was able to go home, the young man began the new chapter in his life with a pacemaker and a daily regiment of medication. He knew life would be different; no more bowling or roughhousing with the kids. Even Charity realized this and now sits on her father’s lap for quiet story-times. Though life became more challenging financially for this family, help was not far away.

These children’s parents were not only grateful for the summer camp that all three children attended for free, but for the pencil case kits. What a very practical way to help a family whose budget was bare bones. This meant about thirty less dollars would have to be spent on school supplies and could now go towards feeding their family.

    Don’t Leave Them Behind!
You and your friends can join us in the pencil case kit project or your gift of $25 can send a promising boy or girl back to school with the right supplies and/or a new school clothes! A commitment of $75 can help a poor family get their three children excited about the first day of school. How about helping an entire summer school class of ten children from the inner city? Your generous donation of $250 can help them be ready!
