North Korea's Farmers Are Starving!
His feet slowly took him through acres of fields. This North Korean farmer's callused hands longed to feel ripe produce during harvest season, but there wasn't any to be found. Drained from severe malnutrition, his sinking heart knew the crops had failed for the fourth year in a row. He hopelessly looked toward his dwelling where the children where too weak to cry about their hunger pains anymore.
Living in a country slightly smaller in size than Mississippi, thousands of farmers' families are barely surviving after failed crops. In order to feel full, they supplement scarcely available rations with ground up tree bark. When that is gone, they scavenge for grass and straw. As winter approached, the ground became hard and cold causing any type of eatable vegetation to die.
According to The World Factbook, even with international aid, North Korea's malnutrition rates are among the world's highest and estimates hundreds of thousands of people have died as a direct result of starvation or famine-related diseases.
Partner with OBI in bringing nutritious food to these starving North Korean families now! You can help!
