  • Famine Relief Distribution Begins In Malawi

Malawi, Africa -- Famine is ravaging southeastern Africa. Millions of men, women and children are hungry due to continuous crop failures and drought. In Operation Blessing and Feed My Starving Children's initial response, a container holding 128,000 meals safely made its way across the Atlantic Ocean . It arrived last week in Malawi, one of the countries hardest hit by famine, at Save Orphans Ministries ' door. Workers immediately began unloading the precious cargo and delivering it into the hands of starving people living in nearby villages.

"How wonderful to see the Lord answering prayers," expressed Save Orphans Ministries' Justin Majawa upon seeing the container filled with food. He has already seen the beginning effects of famine. As the months have passed after yet another failed crop, many families living in nearby Songa have begun skipping meals. Stretching meager resources allows some to have a bowl of thin porridge once a day. The container's meals will be quickly distributed to the rural villages including Songa. According to UNICEF, of the 3.2 million people affected in Malawi, more than one million children are already malnourished, making it all the more critical for additional famine relief to arrive quickly.

October is here! Southeastern Africa's rainy season begins this month. Heavy waters will wash out and flood pathways, making it impossible to reach those in need of famine relief. Without the help of their world neighbors, this impending famine will heighten the probability of certain death. Thanks to our partners, three Operation Blessing sponsored containers of food are still making their way onto African shores. However, there's more to be done.

Operation Blessing can assist you in sharing the harvest with Africa. We have a broad history of helping its citizens. It includes sending flood relief to Mozambique, digging water wells in Uganda, supporting Angolan and Nigerian orphan programs, developing micro-enterprise projects in South Africa, building homes for Tanzanian flood victims, providing relief for Sudanese refugees as well as conducting medical missions in Kenya and Ghana. Please give generously towards southeastern African famine relief today!
