As a single mother of three, Rebecca was struggling to provide
for her family well before the Hurricanes Charley and Frances ripped through
her apartment complex. High winds peeled the roof off, leaving all of
their possessions open to unsalvageable water damage. Rebecca was desperate;
not only had they lost everything, she had run out of food to feed her
children.
This mother experienced some relief when our partner, Taking it to the
Streets Ministries, recently came to her and her neighbor's rescue. While
volunteers passed out bags of food and supplies, parents told them that
ever since the hurricanes came, their children cry in fear every time
it rains. To get their minds off of their tragedy for a little while,
bags of treats were also given to each boy and girl.
"Thank you so much, you have no idea how much you have helped me
and my kids,” expressed Rebecca.
Debra and her husband were also desperate for any kind of help. She was
on disability and he lost his restaurant job when the building was destroyed
by one of the hurricanes. Holding on to the bags of relief supplies, Debra
commented, "You showing up here today in our time of need has shown
me that prayer really does work. Thank you.”
The time to give is now!
Hurricane Ivan has already devastated the Caribbean and is heading
through the Gulf of Mexico threatening to make a direct hit on northern
Florida and Alabama. Please join us as we continue to bring emergency
assistance to Hurricane Charley and Frances survivors as well as prepare
to quickly help those in Hurricane Ivan's destructive path!
