HUNAN PROVENCE, China - With monsoon season in full swing, vast areas of China and southern Asia are still being flooded with rain water.

In China alone, more than 3 million people have been displaced by the storms. To date, 425 people have been reported dead and hundreds are still missing according to the Ministry of Civil Affairs.

In response to the floods, OB China has distributed an estimated $265,000 worth of clothes and nutritional supplements to more than 10,000 people.

OBI has also helped distribute school bags, clothes and vitamin-rich supplements to 7,000 local children.

Economic damages are estimated in the millions with floods destroying crops and homes.

Elsewhere in southern Asia, millions have been displaced by recent flooding in India and Pakistan.

Even though the water has started to recede and the rainfall has let up, the death toll from the floods is still increasing. Officials estimate more than 1,000 people have perished in India alone and others are still missing.

OBI partnered with The Emmanuel Hospital Association in Bihar, India, to distribute more than 3,000 disaster relief kits packed with food, water purifying tablets and hygiene products. The kits can provide a family of eight with a week's worth of food and supplies.

In Pakistan, OBI partnered with Humedica to provide flood victims with shelter kits, food and mosquito nets to protect against a surging plague of mosquitoes and malaria.

"It is clear the worst is not over," said OBI's field director David Darg who has been on the ground coordinating the distributions.
