| Millions
of Nigerian children like this one are in dire
need of food and medical care. |

Niger - Operation Blessing has a team on the ground
in Niamey, Niger, buying 40 tons of rice and millet for
distribution in villages that, so far, have not had any
outside aid or assistance.
OBI’s work will begin in earnest tomorrow when
trucks loaded with 20 tons of food travel to a town called
Bani-Bangou, 150 miles NE of Niamey. The Niger government
has released a list of those regions that are in most
need, and we have chosen to go to areas that no organization
has reached yet.
OBI is hoping to take a medical team, but if unsuccessful,
will still distribute anti-parasite medication. Friday,
OBI teams will return to Niamey where arrangements have
been made for another 20-ton truckload of food.
On Saturday, this food will be distributed in Bankilare,
180 miles northwest of Niamey and close to the Burkina
Faso border.
Both locations OBI has chosen are accessible only by
dirt roads and have failed to attract the attention of
foreign aid organizations thus far. OBI will be the first to
reach these regions with aid.
OBI has made arrangements for protection by local police
for the food distribution and has adequate volunteers
in place from local churches.
