Thousands Receive Medical Help In Cambodian Mission's First Week

Working in hot and humid conditions, the OBI volunteer medical team continues to travel to a different location every day during their two-week mission. Cambodians of all ages have received an amazing 5,245 free dental, medical and optical services in just seven days! Manager of international relations and mission leader Dwight Lohrenz comments, “We’re so busy we don’t have time to sneeze!” Take a look at snapshots from the mission’s first week and see who is receiving medical relief.

A small line of passengers waiting to cross the river on the small boat. Many Cambodians living in rural villages don’t have access to a telephone and their only source of transportation is by walking.
This little girl is one of hundreds waiting for Operation Blessing’s temporary medical clinic to open each morning.
Determined to see the doctor, this elderly lady has waited her turn in line and has made it to the registration desk. She tells an OBI volunteer her name as well as describes what symptoms she is experiencing.
A dentist uses a simple flashlight during an exam. In the back, other dentists pick out sterile instruments to use on the next patient. Despite having to share one translator, the dental team of three has provided over 700 services so far!
In the general medical area, Dr. Meshelle gently checks an infant while a translator explains to the concerned mother what is being done to help her child. The small general medical team has provided almost 3,000 services!
This happy patient has visited the optical area and now can see better with a new pair of free reading glasses. In seven days of work, the optical team has worked tirelessly to provide 1,500 services!
Strangers less than two weeks ago, this OBI volunteer team is working together to provide hundreds of medical services to impoverished Cambodians every day.

Thank you for helping end the cycle of suffering during this medical mission to Cambodia.

There are countless others around the world in desperate need of medical attention.

Your gift of $40 or more can assist OBI’s future medical missions.
