Operation Blessing is
a vital part of the international contingent of aid organizations
intervening to ease the deadly famine now plaguing
Niger. Find out OBI's
latest famine relief activities,
as well as read reports
from the field.
Niger’s food crisis has reached critical levels,
with 3.6 million people in need of food, including 800,000
malnourished children.
After months of severe drought and locust infestation, the
annual fall harvest in the West African nation was unsalvageable,
plunging the population into a deadly famine.
Operation
Blessing is supplying food to otherwise unreached communities
in rural Niger with the help of strategic partners in
the field, like the German-based medical relief organization
Humedica.
With thousands of tons of food now secured from the World
Food Program and the Niger government’s Department
of Famine Crisis, OBI is coordinating and implementing transportation
for desperately-needed rice, cereal, beans and millet.
In a region strapped for food and other resources as well,
the ingenuity and resourcefulness of OBI team members
continues to “make things happen” when needs
are urgent.
Help Operation Blessing persist in supplying life-saving
food to the people of Niger. Make an online
contribution to
Niger famine relief today.
