OBI Urgently Needs Volunteers in the Gulf Coast
Operation Blessing is strategically serving individuals, families and communities in: St. Tammany Parish, Orleans Parish, St. Bernard Parish and Jefferson Parish. We are looking for teams of volunteers to commit one week and help us in any of the areas listed below.
VOLUNTEER NEEDS:
- Hydraulic mobile crane operator: to run OBI's crane (18-ton capacity) in tree removal from roofs.
- Chainsaw operators: to work with debris removal crews.
- Persons with building trade skills (carpenters, roofers, etc.): to work with roof repair crews.
- Dental Professionals: to provide dental care in OBI's mobile dental van and field clinics.
- All volunteers: to serve hot meals, remove debris from homes, and more!
WHAT TO EXPECT:
- Volunteers will be housed at the OBI command center in Slidell. Accommodations include Power/AC/Heated facilities, men and women's sleeping areas with cots, and shower facilities.
- A 24/7 security team monitors the command center and parking area to ensure the safety of the staff and volunteers.
- Operation Blessing will provide all meals for volunteers (breakfast, ready-to-eat lunches and dinner).
- All tools, construction supplies and safety equipment will be provided.
- Operation Blessing's staff of trained project managers will assign work orders and help manage volunteer teams on the ground. Upon arrival, teams will receive a full orientation and training.
