Be Prepared

Preparedness for disasters is critical to the safety of our family, friends and those we love. Without a preparedness plan, our families and communities are left vulnerable to devastation, disaster, injury and even death. Operation Blessing has launched a new program titled, “Prepared KIDS” in an effort to educate and empower students and families. Below you will find information about Operation Blessing’s Prepared KIDS program as well as our 7-Day Family Disaster Planning Guide and other free resources available for download.

Prepared Kids: Create a plan for your family

Prepared KIDS is a 45 minute presentation conducted by OBI’s U.S. Disaster Relief Team in schools throughout the Hampton Roads area. The presentation includes a high-energy, interactive educational component and ends with a tour of OBI’s strategic disaster relief equipment including our Mobile Command Center, Tactical SUV, Truck Crane, Shower Trailer, Construction/Clean-up Trailer and Mobile Kitchen. Each student leaves with a fresh awareness of the effects of disaster and an understanding of the vital importance of talking to their parents about creating a Family Disaster Plan. OBI gives each student a backpack full of disaster planning information such as hurricane tracking guides, preparedness guides and our very own 7-Day Family Disaster Planning Guide that families can use to create their preparedness plan and disaster kit.
