Download this month's BLESSINGS

Unrest and discontentment plague the Philippines' mountainous jungles. Those living in the valleys and dealing with the fear of attack are cut off from the cities, but then again, so are those in the shanty towns. It's difficult for children like Jonathan and his three siblings to go to school, get basic medical care, and even drink clean water. All of these things cost money and his parents' cotton candy cart scarcely makes enough income for the family to eat.

Operation Blessing Philippines recognizes that many struggling families face challenges like these. Here are the programs which have been developed to help:

  1. Tending The Sick -- In these medical initiatives, we either go to the patients or bring them to us. See how.

    a. Mobile Medical Missions: Volunteer medical teams comprised of doctors, dentists, nurses and other professionals trek into dangerous jungle areas, relieving thousands of people from pain and sickness.

    b. Set a Child Free:Our team organizes surgery to correct cleft lips and palates for infants, children and teens who would otherwise have to endure a lifetime of ridicule and health problems. Local surgeons and hospitals donate their time, talents and operating rooms.

  2. Equipping for Life -- Operation Blessing Philippines is not only helping people with emergency needs in times of crisis but we also help them overcome the forces that keep them in the vicious cycle of poverty.

a . Bless-A-Child: Through educational sponsorships, school supply and clothing distributions, as well as feeding programs we help children from poor families prepare for and get the education needed to have a better life.

    b. Grooming: Volunteer hair dressers and barbers cut the hair of children getting ready for school or adults that can't afford this luxury.

    c. Children's Ministry: During each medical mission, children receive snacks and toys, get their faces painted, play games and listen to stories.

d . Livelihood: We partner with other organizations or sponsor seminars so that people in rural villages can be better equipped.

e . Bayanihan Banking: This is a savings program we teach among the villages. It encourages micro-enterprise.

    f. Disaster Relief: During all types of natural disaster, volunteer teams go care for victims at the front lines with clothes, food, finances, shelter and other supplies.

    g. Living Waters: This program incorporates drilling fresh water wells, providing cement toilets and sanitation systems for poverty-stricken villages. Once completed, sicknesses will disappear.

Join us in breaking the cycle of suffering around the world. Please give a gift today!
