The
United States is known as "the land of opportunity". As many of us fiercely
hold onto this ideal, there are countless working poor, unemployed and homeless struggling
to survive every day. They can't afford to feed their children or buy all of the required
school supplies. Many can't afford a simple preventative visit to the dentist.
Operation Blessing sponsored programs are giving Americans the opportunity to lead
healthier and more fulfilling lives by:
- Tending the Sick -- We recruit dental professionals and mobilize
short-term clinics to address unmet dental needs of at-risk populations such as migrant
workers, Native Americans, residents in Appalachia, and under served rural communities.
During these clinics we may offer basic medical, dental and pharmaceutical services
as well as eye screenings, dependent upon the needs of the community.
- Equipping for Life -- We not only help people in times of crisis,
but also assist them in overcoming forces that keep them in the vicious cycle of poverty.
a. Bless-a-Child: At-risk children have the opportunity to be tutored in academics;
mentored in character development; and equipped with importance like skills encourages
their growth and development. This is done through clubs, after school programs, a
variety of creative arts institutes as well as sports programs. We provide children in need with shoes, clothing and supplies for
school.
b. Disaster Relief: We bring an effective assortment of talents and resources to help
meet the variety of needs that can be found in the aftermath of a disaster (i.e. hurricane,
tornado, earthquake, manmade, fire). Our Hunger Strike Force, a fleet of tractor trailers,
transports food and emergency supplies to disaster survivors.
c. Hunger Relief: Every day our Hunger Strike Force trucks are on the road transporting
food and other essentials to food pantries, soup kitchens, and hungry families. Several
times every year we work with professional sports' teams in giving hungry communities
groceries through food distribution events.
d. Life Skills Empowerment: We partner with locally based agencies to provide life
skill training and a support network for unemployed and underemployed Americans. Students
learn how to balance personal demands with work requirements; helps them discover
their gifts, talents and personality so they can find a good employment fit; and passes
on the importance of integrity, reliability and good character. They also learn how
to present themselves in a job interview are given help finding solid employment.
Join us in breaking the cycle of suffering around the world. Please give a gift today!
