When Fatuma was bitten by a poisonous snake in the Kenyan wilderness, the doctors were left with no choice but to amputate her right leg at the knee. Fatuma did not have the funds to pay for a prosthetic leg, so she created one of her own to get by. Despite her ingenuity, the makeshift prosthetic left much to be desired and Fatuma still struggled greatly when performing everyday tasks.
