Assessing Hurricane Laura Damage in Louisiana

Field Report by Operation Blessing

LAKE CHARLES, LA – Operation Blessing has arrived in Lake Charles, LA. Our Disaster Relief team has been busy assessing the scale of Hurricane Laura damage. Laura swept through this community as a category 4 hurricane, with winds up to 150 miles per hour. Because of these high winds and the floodwaters brought by the storm, the community of Lake Charles has been devastated by Hurricane Laura damage. Hurricane Laura broke trees in two, tore away roofs, and left debris scattered everywhere. The people of Lake Charles need our help. Operation Bless staff met with local pastor Jerry Snider to talk about the damage in his community. “No matter how well you build, no matter how well you plan,” Jerry said to OB staff, “Nature has absolutely taken a toll on this community.” Disaster Relief team members witnessed total destruction in the Lake Charles area.
