Resident: “If You are Unfortunate, You Die on the Highway”

In the bush of Liberia there is no infrastructure. There are no modern restrooms and no safe drinking water. This unsanitary environment leads to many health problems for the families that live there. That’s why Operation Blessing runs a “Community Health Worker” program. Each Community Health Worker assists villagers in learning the best methods of maintaining cleanliness, preventing disease and disinfecting water. The Community Health Worker teams are even armed with medication to treat minor illness on the spot. The workers are also trained to recognize the early symptoms of more severe illness and can write referrals to the nearest clinic or hospital if the person needs medical attention
