You Gave a Double Blessing of Two Healed Hearts Through Surgery in China

Field Report by Dina Sleiman

CHINA – Not long ago, you had the unique opportunity to provide a double blessing to a mother and child. Caihua and her 16-year-old son, Gangying, both suffered from congenital heart conditions in China, and now, thanks to you, they’re on the road to recovery.

For decades, Caihua had managed to perform heavy farm work, and for much of that time she dealt with headaches and back pain. But she never sought medical care because she couldn’t afford the expense. Her husband had a disability that kept him from doing heavy work himself, and she served as a  primary provider for her family.

Still in her forties, Caihua looked more like a woman in her sixties due to her backbreaking efforts. Yet, despite ongoing financial hardships, she did her best by her two sons as they pursued their education.

Sadly, earlier this year, Gangying was diagnosed with a congenital heart condition. The family coped with this devastating news and tried to figure out how they could possibly afford his surgery—and then the unthinkable happened. They discovered Caihua also had congenital heart disease, a condition that often runs in families. They both suffered from congenital heart conditions in China and needed surgery. And there was no way the family could pay for two operations on their meager income.

Mother And Son Healed From Congenital Heart Conditions

When Operation Blessing heard about this precious family’s desperate situation, we didn’t hesitate. With your support, we quickly reached out to help, providing both mother and son with the surgery they needed to repair their hearts.

Now  Gangying can continue learning and growing. He said, “The operation was successful. It’s really good that I can live a healthy and happy life. I am very grateful.”

Meanwhile, Caihua has been relieved of the heavy burden of worrying about her child’s health. She’s also excited that she now has the energy and vitality to get back to her farm work and caring for her boys. Caihua said, “I cannot say enough to express my gratitude. Thank you so much for your kindness and help. I will teach my children to be sympathetic and helpful in the future.”

Thank you for being a part of this double blessing and so many other stories of hope around the world.
