Standing in the ashes of Penco, the devastation is impossible to ignore.

After arriving in the area, Operation Blessing was able to capture aerial footage of the neighborhoods impacted by the fires and walk through the remains of what once were homes and memories. One of those homes belonged to Ricardo Escalona.

For 45 years, Ricardo built a life for his family—brick by brick, dream by dream. In a matter of hours, fire reduced it all to ruins. Ricardo lives with his partner and his daughter, who has a disability. By God’s grace, they escaped in time and are safe today.

Now, Ricardo’s hope is simple and urgent: to rebuild at least one room as quickly as possible so he can bring his family home again.

This is more than loss—it’s resilience, courage, and the fight to begin again. Please keep families like Ricardo’s in your prayers as they take their first steps toward rebuilding and healing.
